Ok, its still not proper roaring August temperatures, but were going off to the open air pool next to the Thames at Wallingford (I believe its heated- better be!)
Mia and I just spent two whole days on board avoiding the rain, which also brings with it mud and slippery slopey banks. Richard has ruined yet another bit of carpet at his workstation, in the office he works at; you can always tell where a boater sits at work. We do our best to be considerate, but life isn't always that easy.
We embraced our time indoors, and as a mum, I enjoyed having some real quality time engaging with my daughter. Activities have included, a 500 piece jigsaw, cross stitch, baking gingerbread (to keep us warm - I held off from having a fire) making chocolate lollies, word searches, and making a car and stables from cardboard for Barbie and Ken, or James, as Mia has named him after her 'husband' from school, in
fact hes King James.
We are moored under some beautiful willow trees here, which we love, but the downside means we get little solar power, infact a big fat zilch over the last few days!! there is always a downside to everywhere. But at least here, we cannot hear traffic, trains, sirens, mostly the breeze in the trees, other craft using the River, and of course wild life. Bliss. (Burghfields downside was the constant white noise of the M4 motorway)
So, Ive got bags of rubbish and recycling to disperse of on the way to the pool, which can get on top of you when your on the move, its always a relief to get rid of it, and Im going to wash the floor on our way out, once Mia has made the picnic.
And maybe, just maybe, we may even get the paddle boards out later, I aim to get back to the mooring where we live most of the year, and be able to show them some yoga moves on a board, well... maybe that's bring a bit over ambitious.
