Boaters traveled here from all over the Kennet and Avon canal, Foxy Lady crew traveled 6 miles from Newbury, which took us about 4 hours. We haven't cruised since last Christmas holidays, and it was a joyous trip, in the beautiful Autumn scenery.
My beautiful floating home and shop |
On the weekend, we were lucky with sunny days in November, albeit very cold, if you were standing out all day.
The market had a great vibe, and was welcomed and supported by local residents, local villages and other canal users. With an onsite cafe serving hot and cold food and drinks, it was more of an event than an outdoor shopping experience. Some boaters make their own products, and are happy to chat all day to you about how they sourced the materials, and create their artisan products. This is one of the things that makes it special, you get to meet the 'maker' and you can buy unique things that you won't see any where else.
On Saturday I got out my 'proper' camera, and tried to capture some moments of this special weekend, on the tow path in Kintbury, West Berkshire.
We plan to come back, so look out for the event being advertised next year.
